Locals know this beach to be great for boogie boarding - they're right! The waves reached 4' while we were there on a rainy-ish day with a mild wind blowing into shore.
The ocean bottom is a mix of white coral and black volcano sand. The beach is salt-and-pepper coloured. The sand on the beach was burning hot in the midday sun - seriously hot.

About 20' out from the water's edge, the water became good for snorkeling thanks to fish and coral reef. People have also spotted Dolphins sleeping in the water before noon - unfortunately, we didn't see them.
I boogie-boarded for a long time with Chelsea and Parker. I try to catch the waves a second before they hit me so I can get on top of the crest of the wave and ride it to shore.

Chelsea will be posting a story about the Luau we went to after this day at the beach - a Luau is a Hawaiian party.
