We went to the southernmost bakery in the U.S.A! It is called Punalu'u Bakeshop. Visitors tend to stop at this side-of-the-road bakery on their way between the Big Island's two major towns- Kona and Hilo. When we first arrived to the parking lot, I immediately smelled the delicious scents coming from the bakery. There were beautiful flowers, freshly cut grass and fish in a pond near the picnic area. A man was playing live music as well.
When we entered the bakery there were samples of Hawaiian sweet bread- taro, guava and regular. Yummy!
We had a hard time choosing our treats. Chelsea ended up picking up their best seller- lilikoi glazed malasada. Lilikoi is a passionfruit and the glaze was unbelievable. I enjoyed my strawberry-filled malasada and Parker liked his chocolate-filled malasada. Mom and Dad split a coconut turnover.
This was a great stop!!
