When we set about planning this trip, the kids were very focused on which country we would be in for their individual birthdays. We decided it would be fun if everyone celebrated in a different country. My birthday was the third in our travels so far- Mike celebrated in Hawaii, Nathan celebrated in Japan and I got to celebrate in Thailand. How does a January baby from Canada celebrate? She does so by doing things she never gets to do in the middle of winter back home.
My birthday was our last day in Phuket and it was a fantastic way to finish!

Crystal clear waters |
I started my day with a run just after sunrise followed by a quick dip in the private pool to cool down ...although this cool down was only momentary! I didn't run much in Phuket because even by 8am I found the heat and humidity too challenging so it was a nice treat to wake up early enough to get out.

Beautiful sunrise |
I came home to a fruit bonanza for breakfast- mango, banana, passion fruit, dragonfruit, pineapple, pomelo and tiny oranges. On a side note, we have tried so many new fruits in Thailand- pusa, guava, mangosteen and chompoo to name a few.

We spent the day at Naiyang Beach...our favourite Phuket beach as described in Mike's previous post. We watched the planes land, played beach volleyball, played card games and enjoyed the water.

To escape from the midday heat, we got some pancakes/roti from a roadside stand and savoured them in the shade under the trees.

Chelsea and I treated ourselves to a beach massage and then we enjoyed our last dinner with our feet in the sand. Jim and Ae joined us for our farewell night.

What a fabulous day!
Sounds like a wonderful way to spend a birthday!
ReplyDeleteIt was a perfect day!
DeleteWOWWWW . What is the pin fruit with the black dots? Sooo interesting.
ReplyDeleteYou are living a dream. I'm so glad you had a great day!
That fruit is one type of dragon fruit. The other type actually has pink flesh too. It is sweet but rather bland. It definitely is pretty to look at!
