We left Kuala Lumpur and drove 1.5 hours south to get to Melaka.
The pool in our apartment building was really nice! We could see the ocean from our room too.
At night, we went to the big Jonker Street Night Market. We ate really yummy satay and tried different treats.
At the market, there were 'trishaws' with lots of lights and music. You could pay money to get biked around. We just watched!
Before going back to our apartment, we wandered around by the river. It was all lit up and there was another surprise- fireworks. They exploded right above our heads with no warning - kinda crazy.
The next day, we went to a Submarine Museum. We got to go into a real submarine! It was built by France in 1979 (when mom was born) and is now owned by Malaysia. The signs on the control panels were in French.
The submarine runs on Diesel gas, underwater, but I still don't understand how that could work. It smelled like gas inside.
Inside the submarine, we saw the control centre, torpedo holders, a really small bathroom and shower, beds and a galley kitchen. It was really small inside. My favourite part was climbing the stairs to the hatch and looking underneath the floor through a trap door!
Outside the Submarine, there were fighter jets that you could get up close to and even touch. Malaysia has some Canadian helicopters and ships... but only Russian and American fighter jets.
