Charming Ipoh |
Tolls- we got caught with not enough cash on our card and I had to hop across 4 lanes to get to a booth to reload the card! |
The view from our apartment- see the kids at the edge of the pool?! |
We wandered the streets a bit before grabbing dinner. The downtown core was dead on a Monday evening.
Colonial buildings |
Quaint alleys and side streets |
Rumour has it that this is a street where many rich men of the past housed their mistresses |
Now Concubine Lane is for souvenir shopping |
Ipoh has a reserved spot for scooters up front at the traffic lights- quiet night so no scooters in this picture |
On our drive from Ipoh to KL we pulled over at a pomelo farm to eat our take-away Sri Lankan lunch and learn a bit more about one of our favourite fruits. We noticed that many of the pomelos on the trees were covered in newpapers. The owner described that this was a natural pesticide as it kept the smells down and deterred insects and animals.
Lunch anyone? |

Trees laden with huge fruit- see the newspapers in the background |
We arrived back to KL with one day before our outgoing flight. The highlight of our short stay was swimming in the Sky pool of our hotel.
Sky pool anyone? |
Sunset from the 48th floor |
We spent our last day in Malaysia indoors at the National Science Centre. This place was recommended to us by staff at the Petrosains Discovery Centre on our previous stopover in Kuala Lumpur. This centre, however, was rather tired as compared to the Petrosains Centre. We had it to ourselves, though, and at $7 CAD admission for the whole family, it was a neat way to spend a few hours. The best part was the outdoor water park!
Entrance to the Kuala Lumpur Science Centre- an aquarium |

The Science Centre- a really neat circular building |
AC to 40 degrees- Chelsea is now overdressed! |
A great spot to cool off |
We enjoyed KL and, out of all of the places we visited in Malaysia, it would be the one we would most likely want to return to!
Wow, what an amazing view from the 48th floor swimming pool. The skyline sure looks impressive.
ReplyDeleteBTW, since you've now left Malaysia are the kids planning to write their funny post "Things we noticed about ........" I really love those.
Stay tuned for the next post😉!
